Fashion Proposal

Unit 57 Photography and Photographic Practise

Working Title - L'amour De La Mode

The First application I will be shooting first will be fashion, I am fascinated by Vintage fashion clothes   and the retro Vogue magazines so I want to capture the style in a range of different shots of the models to give off a dramatic effect.  Each Vogue magazine consists of a female model in dressed in something very bold and stylish something in which makes the model look phenomenal with a not so bold background most of the time the background is usually quite plain and this is something I would like to capture in my photos so Vogue will be my inspiration. The exhibition date is the 6th of November, so this means that the photos will be ready for this date. The target audience I will be aiming for will be both male and female from the ages of 18-30+ and the social class will be ABC1C2. I think my images will be most attractive to that age group because I have chosen to do fashion as one of my applications and fashion is a major interest of my target audience. The concept of the style is that I would like my images for my photography to be like the famous photographer Irving Penn below are some example of his work, in which I will be using as inspiration.

On my photographs I will be making them look like something you would see on the front cover of a magazine for women preferably. Each photograph of my models have to be well lit using a reflector, the background will have to be soft and not so bold because, the model will be my centre piece so which ever way my model is dressed I will have to create a type of theme which will fit in line with the photograph. For my shoot I will use around 5 models both male & female so my photographs will be unisex, my models may have a few props mainly accessories with their outfits. Again my inspiration for  male model covers will from vogue because they still keep the background very plain and work around the model making them the centre piece.

The fashion shoot will be taking place in various different locations, the reason for this is because depending on the way my models are dressed and what themes I will be using it could be different to the other places I will be shooting photographs with my other models. The size of my photographs will be 10x8 on a A1 blackboard and the photographs will be used as my centre piece, they will be used in my college exhibition which is on the 6th of November and it will be show to students, tutors and parents. For my photographs there will be a fee for each photo which is between £15-£30 and for the other expenses like transport, time, materials and models won't cost me anything but in reality it would cost to an estimate about £300-£1000 for a whole shoot fashion photographers will usually have a firm that will hire models.

Introduction

The applications I will be using for my final project will be documentary, fashion and Nature. Documentary photography is a series of photos which can be historical, a form of journalism, Political etc. Fashion photography is capturing images of models in particular items of clothing, this can be used as a form of advertisement. Nature photography is of landscapes, animals, plants, sea etc. The reason I have chosen to do these three applications is because I feel I could capture some amazing images.
